A small village located in the burgh of Newport-on-Tay just 10 minutes across the river from Dundee, Wormit began life as an area designed to provide homes for the families of business men working in the Dundee jute industry. The village has some really interesting historical connections. During the Second World War, King Haakon VII of Norway stayed in there and the sea motif painted by his soldiers on the walls of the house he stayed in can still be seen today. Although just a small village Wormit has many amenities which serve a wider area including its own primary school, post office, general merchandise shop and tennis, bowling and boating clubs.
