You'll find the town of Penicuik a few miles south of Edinburgh, beside the Pentland Hills Regional Park. The town itself has all the basic necessities, including two supermarkets, some smaller food shops, some big names brands along the high street and the choice of six primary schools and two high schools. There is also a wide range of sports and leisure facilities, together with hill walking on the Pentland Hills and the much respected golf course at Glencorse.

Transport

Penicuik doesn't have its own train station. However, Lothian Buses run three services in Penicuik: the 37, 47 and 140. The first two take residents into the centre of Edinburgh, via slightly different routes. Then the 140 takes residents around the edge of Edinburgh to Musselburgh. Keep an eye on the Lothian Buses for timetables and other updates.

The A701 road passes through Penicuik. It's one of Midtholian's main roads, and runs from Edinburgh to Dumfries. At one point along the road drivers can join the M74, which then joins the M6 at the Scottish-English Border. The A702 runs down Penicuik's north-west border, and also eventually meets the M74 at a different point.
