Lochmaben is a small town to the west of the Annandale & Eskdale area, just 8 miles from Dumfries and 4 from Lockerbie. The town’s roots date back many centuries, and now-ruined Lochmaben Castle was once the home of Robert the Bruce when he was the Lord of Annandale. Named for the three lakes that surround the town, Lochmaben is a hub for sailing and watersports, and is populated by many commuters to Dumfries, Lockerbie and further afield, as well as the nearby Arla dairy factory.
